Christmas Holiday Decor
There is no such thing as standard Christmas décor. Holiday décor varies from residence to residence and is entirely contingent on factors such as space, personal aesthetic, color scheme and budget. While there are certainly ornaments that fit into a traditional Christmas theme, actual holiday décor is as variable as the season itself.
Before decorating your home for the holidays, it is always wise to construct a theme. Holiday decorations always look better when they are displayed deliberately and with purpose. Irregardless of how small your space or budget, you can create a beautifully warm and impressive holiday palate so long as you put some thought into the process.
For people working in a modern space, we recommend that you choose a simple theme with a limited color scheme. Stick to classic decorations such as white candles, red flowers, and/or plain greenery. When decorating the tree, use clear lights instead of multi colored ones and purchase several dozen Christmas ball ornaments that share the same hue. The result will be a clean decorative space that rings in the holidays with sophistication and class.
If, on the other hand, you wish to create a warmer and more traditional atmosphere, expand your color scheme but stick to the basics. As is the case with most design elements, less is more when it comes to holiday décor. A beautiful centerpiece or carefully placed display of Christmas balls is much more effective than a haphazard collection of random ornaments on exhibit for exhibit's sake.
